I work with clients in a collaborative effort to promote personal growth and awareness. I offer an integrative approach that allows me to tailor the counselling to individual needs, with the availability to explore CBT and various therapeutic activities. I work compassionately, welcoming an open and honest space.
About me and my practice
I have experience working with clients who experience various mental health disorders, ranging from ADHA to generalised anxiety and depression.
I am not afraid to challenge what I hear or see, with the intention to allow for an opportunity to explore whats below the surface, in the hopes of developing greater awareness.
At times it is useful to explore whats going on with the use of different tools and creative activities. Having used different creative methods within the therapy room, myself and clients have found many opportunities to explore unconscious elements of the self. It is also a way of making therapy a bit more fun and lighthearted, with a sense of being productive and proactive with the time. Of course these approaches arent for everyone; so whilst we take our time to feel out the therapeutic alliance, I will initially stick to talking therapy, so that we can establish a safe and trusting environment.
Experience
I have been training in counselling for the last six years, and have now graduated with a foundation degree in counselling. In addition to my academic training, I have and continue to seek additional training of various forms, such as training in domestic violence, creative interventions, ADHD/ADD, along with other various workshops.
Additionally, I work with a mens mental health charity called Talk Club, where I conduct group therapy and one-to-one therapy sessions.
Prior to this, I have spent some years working with a local non-profit counselling service called New Dawn, where I have conducted over 100 hours of supervised client work.
